The Del City Radio Club was founded on September 4, 2002. Privately owned and operated by the McCord family, the club welcomes the amateur radio community and makes its equipment available for use by licensed amateur radio operators.

Our goal is to provide a welcoming environment while maintaining sound operating practices and protecting the equipment. The equipment is privately funded, and its owners bear the full cost of maintenance and replacement. To help prevent damage, we routinely shut down the equipment during lightning storms. At other times, temporary shutdowns may be necessary to protect the equipment or address operating issues. These decisions are intended to preserve the system for everyone, not to impose unnecessary restrictions.

Because our repeater system links to other repeaters and clubs, users must also respect the operating standards of those connected systems. If our connection causes poor audio quality or interference, a remote system may temporarily block the link and explain the issue. We then address the problem, communicate the corrective steps, and request that the connection be restored. We have consistently been able to resolve these issues and reconnect.

For example, an operator using a handheld radio may be able to access our local repeater, yet have a signal that is not clear enough to be understood over the linked system. Operators at the remote end may hear mostly static and temporarily block our connection to stop the noise. This can happen to anyone and should not be viewed as a punishment or a personal criticism. We appreciate everyone who uses our system. Temporary interruptions and connection restrictions are sometimes part of operating a linked repeater network. Thank you for your understanding, cooperation, and support as we work to keep the system reliable and enjoyable for the amateur radio community.
