The Oklahoma VoIP System is a free PBX service for licensed amateur radio operators, using the Amateur Radio Emergency Data Network (AREDN) to cover Oklahoma.

Covers Oklahoma City and surrounding areas, overlaying the 405 area code.

  • Extension 8875 is a conference bridge that connects to Hams Over IP (HOIP) Trunk, extension 100060.

The Oklahoma VoIP System connects amateur radio operators across the state via four PBX systems, linked by IAX2 trunks, as of September 8, 2025. The system includes MeshPhone and Hams Over IP (HoIP).

PBX Locations and Area Codes

  • Duncan: (580) – Contact KD5TDK
  • Oklahoma City: (405) – Contact K5EXI
  • Oklahoma City: (572) – Contact K5GLH
  • Henryetta: (918) – Contact KD5FMU

Plans are in place to expand with additional PBXs, including the 539 area code.

MeshPhone Dialing

  • Local extensions are four digits (e.g., 20XX, 51XX, 70XX, 88XX).
  • For MeshPhone calls, prepend the area code to the extension (e.g., 405-20XX, 580-51XX, 918-70XX, 572-88XX).
  • To dial a remote MeshPhone PBX, dial 78, wait for a dial tone, then enter the full seven-digit number (XXX-XXXX).

Setup Instructions

  1. Connect your VoIP phone to your AREDN node via Ethernet (enable PoE if needed).
  2. Access your phone’s settings via its IP address in a web browser.
  3. Set the host to k5glh-pbx-572.local.mesh, port to UDP 5060, and use your assigned extension (88XX) and password.

Dialing Between Systems

  • MeshPhone (local) to MeshPhone (remote): Dial 78, wait for dial tone, then enter the seven-digit number.
  • MeshPhone to Hams Over IP (HoIP): Dial 74 + HoIP number (no second dial tone).
  • Hams Over IP to MeshPhone: Dial 78 + seven-digit MeshPhone number (e.g., 405-20XX).
  • MeshPhone to Hams Over IP: Dial 78 + HoIP number.
